ou know… when u dream about our children, it makes me think a lot about them. Sometimes I think about them the whole day. Sometimes when I sleep, and even when I eat. There are times when I think of the both of us in a huge house. All of us together sitting in the garden smelling the flowers.
Veyasan running around and Akshey exploring. Me and you sitting together with baby girl. The start of a day when we’re all together (most probably it’ll be a Saturday or a Sunday =p). Saturday morning we’ll take a walk. Go to the park for some fresh air. Look at the scenery and smell the flowers. Take Veyasan on my shoulders while you carry baby girl in your arms. Akshey can walk without us having to hold his hand. But should keep an eye on him. Stop by the peanut stall and buy some boiled peanuts to munch on. Take them to the playground and watch them play. Put baby boy on the slide and baby girl on the swings. Akshey will always be interested in running more than playing in a slide. He’ll be doing all the exploring, the kind of child that’s curious. We’ll take our time being with them at the playground. Watching them keeping them safe. Looking after them. Kissing them and hugging them for every little thing that they get right. We’ll be supportive of them as we are with each other.
Next we’ll take them for lunch at the Indian shop. We’ll order a good serving of rice vegetables and a bit of curry and chicken. Veyasan will be hungry and grumpy so best to satisfy him first. Baby girl will take her time in choosing and seeing what she wants. But have to make sure she gets enough of everything. You know right, one girl two boys, food won’t be enough for her. Then there’s the biggest baby… me, so must order a lot. Then we’ll feed them. Little by little. Wipe their mouths kiss them and hug them for finishing all their food without complain. Order some fresh juice. I know Akshey will love orange juice. Ashini will want apple juice. Veyasan will try to ask for Coca-Cola but just say no. If we give him means he’ll start burping all over the place. So don’t. Watermelon juice will be good. Let them drink, and if they can’t drink then we help them to finish.
We can take a drive to the mall. We’ll go watch a movie. Something the children will like. We’ll buy pop-corn and some drinks. Water is good for the kids, but a bit of Pepsi, Sprite, or Coca-Cola wouldn’t hurt. We’ll watch the movie with them, but you know the kids right, all will be restless. So we’ll be keeping our eye on them and not watching the movie like we’re supposed to.
When the movie is over which would be by evening we’ll want to get ready to go home. So we do and an hour later end back at home. We bath the kids and us too and we get dressed for dinner. I’ll go out and buy some food. Chinese food would be nice. Some sizzling tofu, Akshey will like. Some mixed vegetables, baby girl and you will love. And some prawn sambal, me and baby boys favourite.
When they’re done they’ll want some ice-cream so you’ll go and scoop some for everyone. I’ll be looking at you and you’ll be looking at me. Wondering how we managed to make such wonderful children with the biggest stomachs in the world. As soon as you bring the ice-cream out it’s all gone. Finally they’re full. The bottomless pits which are their stomachs is finally full =P. Suddenly by nine o-clock they star to doze off. You take them to brush their teeth and put their pyjamas. By days end their in their beds sleeping like little angels. Our children, the little people that we made and love so much. Our babies no matter how old they are.
You come to sit with me by the TV. You look at me and I kiss you and I say thank you for giving them to me. I say I love you and I hold you in my arms. Suddenly I realise I forgot something and I rush to their rooms and kiss them good night. I come back to you and I kiss you. I look at you and I know I have the world.
I kiss you more this time. Your cheeks and your lips and your forehead. I rub your belly with my hand. I kiss your neck and hold you close to me. We lie on top of each other on the couch and we know we love each other more than anything. The children have only brought us closer together.
This is what we both want. A life where we share everything and have the world. The world meaning our kids. We teach them and make sure they become good adults in future. People who will give back to the community. Keep alive what our parents and our grandparents have done. To keep the honour in life. Keep the honour through our children.
I can’t give this to you now as a birthday present but it’ll be with you soon. On your birthday I want you to know that you are loved by me. You are cared for by my heart, my mind my soul. I love you very much and I always will. No one will ever replace you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR WIFE VILASINI.
